Welcome

Welcome to Westmount School!  We are a learning community of students, parents, teachers and supporters dedicated to preparing young people for the academic and real world challenges they will encounter on their journey to adulthood and beyond.  Students at Westmount are served by superb teachers who work with students to foster their individual success in all subject areas.  Students have multiple opportunities for learning beyond the classroom through sports teams, band-art-drama productions, clubs, field trips, presentations and experiences.

Principal's Message

Welcome back to the 2013-2014 school year!  I hope you all had a summer filled with fun and adventure.  The staff at Westmount have been working to ready the school for the return of our students and are prepared for a great year to come with many opportunities for students both in classes and in extra-curricular activities.

The staff at Westmount is committed to three major areas of school improvement for the coming year.  We will continue our work around student engagement as a key tool to deliver a relevant and meaningful classroom experience.  We will continue our work to ensure all students have the 21st Century literacy and numeracy competencies to meet their futures with confidence and success.  We will fully integrate ‘The Leader in Me’ program to give students opportunities to develop skills in time management, planning, work ethic, conflict resolution, and leadership.

The key pillars of success for Westmount students are the synergy between home, teachers and the students.  We encourage and welcome active participation from parents and guardians in their student’s academic endeavors.  Please contact the school at any time for information or assistance on any school related matter.

Sincerely,

Nick Diederichs
