Westmount School offers an Opportunity Program to give support to students who demonstrate mild cognitive disabilities and significant academic delays. Programming emphasizes development of literacy and numeracy skills, and the application of important academic, social, work and life skills in the classroom, school and community. The program fosters student independence.
Opportunity classes at our school are smaller and access support from an Educational Assistant. Students have different teachers for their classes, move from classroom to classroom and are integrated for options. Students in the opportunity classroom may work on a modified regular Alberta curriculum or may challenge the Alberta Knowledge and Employability curriculum. If you would like more information about this program, please contact the school. Contact.
